Successful fundraiser for the Church of St. John the Baptist, Brava!
City of Pawtucket, November 8, 2025 (Bravanews) - The organizations Padre Pio Charities, Bisca Club and Minisu di Scola Materna would like to express their deepest gratitude to all those who attended, and also to those who, unable to attend, sent their contribution to help cover the costs of repairing the beloved Church of St. John the Baptist on Brava Island.
In a statement posted on social media, the Minisu di Scola Materna organization said that the fundraising event, held on November 2, was a "great success!", exceeding the community's expectations.
The total raised was an impressive $15,628 dollars (the gross amount was $17,728.00, minus $1,400 in expenses).
The organization would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to this success, in particular, the people who prepared the "catchupadas", delicacies that made the party even more special, and the talented musicians and voices who enlivened the event, namely Vuca Pinheiro, Chantelle, João Alfredo, Jack da Rosa, Djosinha, Manny Baptista and the "Harmony Band".
The moment of solidarity and fraternization was recorded in beautiful images, courtesy of Julio P. Gomes and Aguinaldo Fonseca, who captured the joy and spirit of unity for the recovery of the Church of São João Batista.
This success demonstrates the strength and generosity of the Brava community, both on the island and in the diaspora, when it comes to preserving its heritage and faith.
